Escalator Idiots

I found people nowadays are always attached with their mobile phones or tablets. It's fine when you are stationary or your activity doesn't disturb other people.

Some people keep looking at their screen when riding escalator. It is fine while you already on the escalator and you need to keep watching whether you are already near the end of the escalator. But some are just keep looking at their screen while stepping on to escalator which I think it's hogging the human traffic during peak hour. They also don't realize that they reach the end of escalator, which can be dangerous as people behind them have no place to step as the escalator is keep going. If these people are intelligent enough to not put other people and themselves in danger, they should not keep looking at their screen at certain points.

I almost tripped and fell down because of these people in front of me keep looking to their phone when they already reached the end of escalator. They just stopped and the escalator was pushing me forward. I got no place to stand as they didn't move.

Next time I should just push them. They put me in danger. What happens if I fall down behind and hit other people behind me?

Chicken Noodle from Jtown,Midpoint Orchard

I had this Jtown chicken noodle at Midpoint since I work near by. They give the chicken quite a lot and I put a lot of chili on my noodle. The meat ball is a bit too soft for Indonesian style. I knew they just bought frozen one in Sg.

End of Contract at GPJ

Following my previous post regarding my short contract job at GeorgeP.Jhonson. There were 2 persons left the company during 3 weeks of my stay. 1 was the Ang moh GM, Steve which had his last day on my first day. Then another angmoh business development manager, Sophia, which has her last day today.

I have no idea why people left this company as the work load is not that bad. The work is quite relax. I believe the pay here is quite good also.

I have spent my 2 weeks plus and left another 3 more days in this company. There are some occasions I felt pressurized. All are related to graphic work which I am not familiar to. Overall, I didn't like the job given to me. The project I expected to do in my short period here was not here.

Anyway the bright side of it is I didn't need to spend a long journey to Bukit Merah side and I don't need to feel emotionally abused by the previous boss. I am like a refugee for 3 weeks period here while finding my new employment. I discovered a new library at Orchard 313 also on my 3rd day which I always go there ever since during lunch time. I had chance to try Chabuton which I think it's a disappointment for a Michelin star ramen shop.

I try to enjoy my daily life as mother at home. I am thinking to try to do pastry as well. But I may need to begin with a instant pastry puff first before I do from scratch. Hope I pick up some skill during my free time. Apart from that, I plan to spend quality time with Marco and bring him out to see new things (if there's no haze of course).

I do hope that my life is going to be better next year as I really suffer this year.

My New Notebook

I had been thinking to buy new notebook because my Acer Aspire which I bought 8 years ago already can not run properly. Even for light task, it needs time to load and the entire process is making me mad. It has been a good company for me during this 8 years.

I bought PC on 2012, however I found it not flexible enough to use it as I need to sit on the desk outside. The PC is placed at the balcony where the afternoon sun is. I sat there during my maternity leave to play game or to do some research on baby stuffs, it is really not comfortable.

I had been eye-ing for Asus, but they don't have the 16 gig RAM. I almost bought the 14" zen book as it can be upgraded to 12 gig RAM for free. After few visit to Best Denki at Compasspoint, I found this Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series 15.6", comes with 16 gig RAM and the rest of the specs are ok for running my 3d max program. It cost $1999.

I went to Challenger at Serangoon NEX. The same model is sold for $1899. It is $100 cheaper. Then I bargained further and the sales person gave me another $70 discount. I paid for $1829 with 24 months installment zero percent interest. I think $72/month is a reasonable amount that can be covered by my freelance jobs.

Weekend with MG 20 months

2 days ago Marco turned 20 months. He is more talkative now. He even shouts when we were in library yesterday.



He also become heavier and I almost can not carry him. He is suddenly so heavy. I am fortunate, he doesn't ask me so much to carry him. I train him to walk by him self except for taking escalator, going up and down from the bus and MRT.

He is so independent, he walked here and there, explore the space. Some aunties or uncles looked at him and interacted with him, may be they found him cute.

I must really enjoy this moment as he is growing so fast. I love my Marco so much. I never thought I would love a person that much. I love him more than I love myself definitely. He came to this world because of me, from me and I have to protect and love him.

Contract Job at GP Johnson

I am working for GP Johnson for almost 1 months as one of the 3D designer went for re-service.

It is a relief that I can escape from the "Hell" I was in for almost 6 months.

The office is located at Triple One Somerset, the building beside Somerset MRT. It is very convenient to go and have a lot of eating place. It is just not easy to find a cheap place to eat.

I tried Chabuton, the Michelline star Ramen. It was disappointing. The other day, I tried Popeye using my coupon. 1 piece chicken, 2 tenders, and 1 mashed potatoes for $5.90. The auntie was generous, she changed my chicken from wing to ribs and gave me a small pack of ranch sauce. The sauce was good to have with the tenders. But the tenders...again for the 3rd time eating Popeyes, they are under cooked. I spat the chicken out and the taste of the raw chicken stayed in my mouth for few minutes. Sigh...I think I will not order Popeye's tender, better to get the chicken.

The bakery downstairs near the lobby is good also. i like their pizza bread. The breads are so tempting, unlike when I go to other bread shop. I am not a bread person. But their bread is really good and the variety is also a lot from sweet to savory.

Most of the time, I always bring my lunch from home. After having lunch, I always go to The Library at Orchard Gateway. I was so amazed by the design of the library. It's very clean, Japanese style. Very focus on design. The collection of the books also focus on design.

I think I really like it to be there browsing different kind of books.

Chabuton @ 313 Somerset

It has been so long since I wanted to try this Michelline star ramen. I imagined it must be so good.

Since I work at Triple One Somerset and it is just 5 minutes away from 313, I decided to go there for lunch.

They have lunch package from Monday to Friday. I ordered the recommended one according to the menu. It was tonkotsu ramen. I wanted to ordered the miso ramen but I was thinking I must order the recommended one first before trying other thing.

It was disappointing. The broth was diluted according to my taste. It was just salty. Not rich and deep enough. The chasiu tasted a bit smelly. It was super thin slice of pork. OMG. I don't think it was a michelline star standard.

I ordered potato cake as the side dish and lychee & apple jelly as dessert. I think the potato cake was a bit watery. It supposed to be more solid. The 2 jelly cups I brought home and ate them with Marco.

New Bike for Marco

Niko bought a preloved bike for Marco. The one I bought from China is a bit too big for him.

He was so happy with his new bike. He climbed to the bike himself as he can't wait to ride it.

Niko's 33rd Birthday

I had been thinking a gift for him for so long. I finally decided the gift and went to buy with Marco and Thuzar.

It's nicely wrapped in gold paper and navy blue ribbon. I also gave a Birthday letter written on my lovely collection of Keroppi letter paper. I hope he likes it.

The cake also had been ordered few weeks back. I worry I won't be able to get the cake on time. These 7 years I often got it last minute which I think it was not good.

I am happy on how it has been arranged. All were ready before the day.

The thing that didn't go well was the dinner. I planned to cook something for his bday dinner. But he came back late.
