CNY 2013 day 1 - Lunch

Niko started to cook for lunch on 11am. He finished around 1pm plus. 4 of us had lunch on CNY day 1.

He cooked Butter Prawn, Egg bed with mushroom and toufu, and Steam fish with toufu (again).

I like the butter prawn. The sauce tasted like salted egg crab, very buttery and sinful.

The fish presentation wasn't very pleasing, but the taste was not bad though.

I think the egg tou fu bed this time was not as good as usual. This time was bland and the egg bed a bit over cooked.

Overall, Niko is a great cook...I love his cooking. :D

CNY 2013 day 1 - Dinner

We went out around 6pm to see the flower festival at Sentosa, but luckily we checked on the way there. It closes around 7pm.

We went around tanjung pagar and china town area, but all the eateries were close.

Niko came out with idea to go John the Grocer. It definitely open because of Ang mo customer.

We ordered Duck Salad for my mother, beef burger for my self and Veil Pasta for Niko.

I like Niko's pasta and the duck salad. The duck salad the taste is complex, the sour taste comes from the balsamic vinegar, the sweet taste comes from the duck meat, the salty taste comes from goat cheese. The walnut was crunchy and fresh. I think the portion is just nice also.

Candy Candy

This was the famous Japanese comic (manga) in 1990's in Jakarta. It was popular on 1980's in Japan.
I bought the whole series of this comic at Gramedia Matraman. When I read the 1st book, I cried because Candy was sold to the Mexican guy as slave. So sad, isn't it?

Surprisingly when Anthony (the rich boy character who liked Candy) died, I was not sad...May be because I hate girly boys.

The whole story about this girl journey is interesting. Especially when she became a nurse. I think the most disappointing is the ending of the whole journey. Why the author did not end it like Candy married a man and drew a happy family at the last page.
