Changing AirCon

Last week, my aircon suddenly didn’t work. We could turned on the aircon, but it just didn’t blow cold air. After a while, it turned off itself and the orange light keep blinking.

Actually few different aircon technicians told me it’s time to change the aircon. However, as long as it still worked, why need to change? So I maximised the life span of this aircon. So in total, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries lasted 15 years +.

I called the aircon technician, they recommended to change the motherboard of the outdoor unit, costed me $120, plus checking fee $40. It still didn’t work. So $160 gone.

I quickly went to the shop to browse my options, including Prism+. However I feel that the way Prism+ bundle their package with the service, it seems want to eat me. Some more their product is not proven reliable in the market.

Earliest installation was 1 week later. So we have to bear sleeping without AC for another 1 week. Luckily October is already cooling. So this 1 week is still bearable.

I ended up buying LG system 3. The design of the indoor unit is very modern and nice. I hope it will last around the same lifespan.

Dyson Air Purifier

I am a Dyson fan. I like how their products are well designed. When I saw this air purifier fan got discount, I quickly grabbed it. It was $379. I found that this is actually similar to AM7 I own but they add filter. The wind is not as strong as AM7 and it is noisy.

Home Improvement 2020-2021

I have been staying in this Sengkang House for more than 10 years. Last year I just completed my 10 years milestone. There are improvements I have made recently.

The dining chairs are very shaky (like Marco's teeth). I found ghost chair from carousell. I bought them separately from different sellers. They are combination of opaque black, transparent black, and transparent clear.

I also bought some rugs so that my marble floor won't get scratches.

I bought a coffee table to be put in front of the TV. The previous table I bought from IKEA was not sturdy. I didn't even dare to put my cup on it. This new coffee table looks like marble top, but it is not marble. it's very good for $30 price I paid at Carousell, including delivery some more.

I suddenly thinking about feng shui to enhance my house. I have read through few website on what to put and how it should be. I will do the foyer first and the working place as I have been working from home. After these, I will settle the living room and masterbed room. There are many things I can learn everyday from reading about fengshui to enhance my house.

Basically for foyer or the space after you enter the house, it is very important. I realised my foyer may be a bit dim because I only put 7 watts floor lamp at one corner. I also need to put some indoor plants at the foyer so there is a sense of living creature there.

Seems like indoor plants help in enhancing the energy in the house. But there are certain plants according to some article are not good for fengshui, such as cactus and other spikey plants.

If I have time, I will do a 360 degree video showing before and after rearranging and tidying my house.  It's fun to have side project like this. Kill two birds with one stone. 

Green Corner at Home

 I started to create this corner since few months back. Starting small by propagating my money plants in glass bottle with water. Then I bought Gerbera Daisy and Strawberry Begonia. Then finally got my Venus Flytrap which I named her "Miss Venus".

My friend also gave me an air plant. I put it near my fountain as air plant may need moist as their food.

I found happiness when looking at my plants grow new leaves. I still want to buy Caladium plant family which I think they are beautiful or Calathea family which has very unique leaf pattern.

If you want to grow your own Venus flytrap, you can get it here. Basically just put near the window where it has enough sun. Water with overnight water (leave it overnight for the chlorine to evaporate first). Once a week you will have fun feeding this plant.

Door Reinstatement, 26-30th December 2019

I finally decided to do the door reinstatement. It costed me $1.85K. I just did it and got over it.

Marco and I slept at living room for few days. I slept at hospital one day as I got bad fever.

White Carpet for Living Room

I know no one will agree with me of choosing white as carpet. Well, I bought white one.

We did it finally after delaying for so long. Of course, the very kaypoh helpful boy was more willing to lend a hand.

Painting Living Room, 15th June 2018

There is this particular wall in the living room which is the dirtiest. Why? It is because my sweet Marco Gunadi wrote on the wall or rubbed his back on this wall.

It has been a pain in my eyes. So during Hari Raya public holiday, I bought a 1 littre paint. Nippon paint easy wash, natural cane 8167 and all the tools required. Total bill was $34 at home fix. I know the tool would have been cheaper if I bought them at neighbourhood shops.


First thing I did before starting the job was to eat. I bought subway to fill up before do the job. Secondly is to lay the plastic and taped it with paper tape. I climbed ladder to tape the ceiling. Then I started painting. I diluted a bit the paint, otherwise it was too thick.



When I started to do my first roll, I realised that I bought a wrong colour. It is supposed to be Wall Arte NP N1865P which is a bit pinkish. zzzz....






I stained my hands and arms. But it's more economical to do it myself than ask people to do. It would be few hundred dollars. At least this total damage only $40 inclusive of my dinner.

Here we go...the wall is like brand new.

Union Jack Corner

I bought a phone booth cabinet with a union jack carpet to decorate my house. This is a good photo corner.

Grass Figurines

I bought 4 grass animal figurines from Carousell. A rabbit, a teddy bear, a dog and a squirrel.

I played around with my fish eye lens. It's fun to see the buildings distorted.

Singapore House

I remember on 2007 when I first got a job in Singapore, I needed to find a place to stay. I hate so much living in HDB as in Jakarta we commonly live in landed house with abundant space. The windows are like prison with trellis. The cables house are protruding out from the wall. They just look alien to me. After going through my first 6 months, I can adapt to the local living style. I think I finally knew why they are designed like that and for which purposes. After all living in HDB is not bad at all. I used to think living in private property will be far way better than living in HDB. Finally I had a chance to try private property. We actually paid more expensive for electricity, gas, and water because there's no subsidy from government. In fact the built quality of the architecture is better in terms of wall thickness, floor to floor height, and floor thickness. Apart from physical condition, there's almost no unwanted disturbance from house agents, sales persons, volunteers seeking for donation, etc. Overall, my expectation of how well my life would be because of living in private property vs the amount of extra money forked out for that is not balance.

Bali Paintings are up!

We bought 2 pieces paintings from Bali. 1 is abstract painting. The other one is birds painting with frangipani background.

They are up just now after 3 months they had been staying in roll.

New curtain and moodlight

Sofa...finally

After more than a month shifting to our new house, we have been sitting on the floor ever since. Our pain will be ended on this saturday. This sofa will be delivered to our house.
We bought it on Friday, at Mondi (furniture mall).

2 Weeks after moving in

We still have not bought our sofa :D But at least my dining table was there since last week.

The floor really looks different after polishing, it's very gloosy, and it affects the entire feel of the house.

Today everything are almost finish.
But the electrical work is too wrong. They just any how do, not based on my drawing.
My vanity top is up also.
Now left only the solid top, mirror, and two bathroom doors.
