Padang Trip, June 2025

I never thought that I would go to Padang. Never crossed my mind at all. I went there with Tywie and Christine. I think this was a good trip to experience different things.

Our flight from Singapore was delayed for 5 hours. We got meal voucher, which we used it at Burger King. Then we arrived at Padang quite late. Quickly took shower and slept.

The next morning we went to Bukit Tinggi. On the way there, we ate lunch at Sate Padang Mak Syukur and stopped to take picture at one of the waterfall. It was very nice. Then we continued the journey till we reached the Museum and the jam gadang.

The museum was actually the best rumah gadang I have seen. It was a good view to take picture in any angle.

We also visited Lubang Jepang. It was a massive tunnel built by Japanese during world war 2. However, the guide said it was never been used by them. It still looks new. When we were inside the tunnel, there was some part I felt goosebumps. I quickly reached my friend’s arm. After that, we talked in the car, she also felt that there was something.
I also ate the nicest beef rendang in my life. It was at Lamun Ombak. It was so thick and rich.

Overall, Padang is an underrated tourism destination. I seldom see tourist in Padang. But seriously it was good for culinary, sight seeing and culture eye opening. The trip was also not expensive in terms of budget. Total each of us spent less than $800 SGD for 4 days. Our ticket was $110 from Singapore.
