F1 Thank You Dinner

I've been doing F1 chalets since the first F1 event in 2008. This was the first time I was invited to the "Thank You" dinner for who involved in F1 2011.

The dinner took place in Imperial Treasure at Crown Plaza Hotel Terminal 3 Changi Airport. The food was good and I never tried some of them before. That was the first time I ate those exotic food.

The dinner began with boiled prawn which was sweet and tasty.

My excitement reached the peak when I saw something really familiar on the silver tray. It was sooooo good. :)

Next one was the exotic enough. Each of us just got 1 orangie clear soup in a small bowl with few wolf berries in it. It tasted delicious without any meat or any thing in the soup. But later on 2 plates of meat were put on the lazy suzan and I think those were the meat where this tasty soup came from.

There were few pieces looked like gizzards and the rest look like normal chicken or duck pieces. But then, the waiter told us those were snails. I didn't try the snail because I imagined the snail and I felt disgusted.

I didn't feel like eating also for the goose feet with sea cucumber. The feet was covered by skin and extra membrane in between the fingers. It was my first time to eat this weird food. The picture I found in the internet was not the same as I had eaten.

The rest of the food were normal, such as fried rice, fried fish with black sauce, spinach with 3 kind of eggs ( I love this one ) and normal dessert.

Niko's Bday

I think time flies so fast, it was Niko's 29th bday. I had not bought any bday present for him. It is still in pending. I guess he will ask me to buy him a new android phone that he has been talking about or a 7" samsung android tablet.

Niko's Mouth Guard

Finally, after more than 3 years nagging, he finally went to get his mouth guard at one of the dental clinic, River vale Mall.

It's a bit thick than I thought. I thought it was a silicon layer covering his teeth. It turned to be a thick plastic rubber chasing. But I believe this will last longer than the silicon one.

Hi-Beam from Etude House

I bought this Hi-Beam glitter from Etude House for $17.00, I thought it's like bronzer. In fact, it is just a glitter in a compact powder form.

When I applied this on my face, it's not so good. My face looked wet as if I'm perspiring. After so many times, I decided to use this as body glitter instead of face glitter. And I think it looks good on body for wedding dinner or going to cafe.

Yesterday, I realized that this product is actually a copy of Guerlain product in a simplified and cheaper version.

New Running Shoes

Niko bought a pair of running shoes for me last month. This is to motivate me to jog again like I used to do. At the moment, I've been jogging at least 10km a week for these 3 weeks. I hope I can do this frequently.

How Green Building Should Look : Ken Yeang

Green building doesn't necessarily equal ugly. There's often a causallink between building's look and its sustainable credentials, if for no other reason than green architecture demands a certain set of materials, economy, and form. Now, this form-function relationship need not mean ugly, aesthetically uncomfortable.

According to Ken Yeang, good architecture is green architecture, but green architecture is not necessarily good.

The building should not look like a modernist, and should not be pristine; it should be a bit fuzzy and something new. The ideal green building is one which is ecomimetic and whichintegrates seamlessly and benignly with the natural environtment at 3 levels: physically, systemically, and temporally.

Handling Complaints

I realized when I was in Indonesia, I didn't bother to waste our time to complaint because no body will respond. It became a culture. We just need to learn our lesson and keep in mind not to go back to the place that have bad service or product.

It's a totally different story when I live in Singapore. Every time you are not satisfied with a thing or a product, you can make a complaint. Most of them will respond positively by giving discount, free give, or apologize to you.

The real test of client relations skill is the way we handle difficult situations. A Complaint is a warning sign that our product or service has a problem. Treat a complain is an opportunity to put things right.

For service company, good word of mouth is the best and most reliable source of marketing.

These steps may be a better procedure to respond a complaints :
- Keep calm and listen
- Thank the client for bringing the matter to your attention
- Apologise
- Never argue or disagree, even the client is wrong
- Ask question and note the facts
- Consider the some alternative of solutions, decide the best to do and take action
- Explain what you are doing and why
- Make a record of the complain and pass it to those responsible
- Follow up to ensure the matter was rectified

I will put "handling problems and difficult clients" on the same category.

These are the steps :
- Ask questions to clarify the problem.
- Solve it your self if possible or find some one who can
- Do not ignore or dismiss the problem
- Do not blame the client
- Do not laugh, even it's funny
- Do not avoid by saying "it's not my job" or "we can't help you"
- Try to understand the client
- Respond as quickly as possible

Beside those steps, I think our expression when we are talking to client has to be neutral or welcoming rather than black face :)

Skin booster

Finally I have to make a decision for my dull face skin. It can not be helped anymore. I know some extra money will be sacrified for the upgrading.

First option will be buying a bottle of the miracle essence from SKII. It will definitely help to make the skin looks radiant.

I was looking for second option, such as traditional chinese ingredients or vitamin C. I heard a lot of celebrity inject vitamin C to make their skin more fair. Even though they are native Indonesian who have darker skin tone, but once they inject vitamin C they look like Chinese with fair skin.

I found something that is not new, and I'd been looking for this thing for few times.

So since I've decided to spend for my personal treatment and i've done my research on this product's review, then i finally decided to buy this.

I've taken my 3rd bottle. I would say my skin is a bit smoother, but the glow I'm expecting is not shown yet. I will only risk my $58.80 for this 12 days treatment. If it doesn't work, then it's time to move on to other alterntives.

When Niko was away to Jakarta last time.
I suffered a lot. I had to make my own lunch and dinner.
This was what I manage to do to relieve my hunger. It was a pathetic meal. :(

I cooked rice and mixed with furikake. I used Daisho sushi molder.
The rest were popcorn chicken, sausage, and hamburger. I also finished the left over lettuce.

3rd Wedding Anniversary, Bintan

It was started with a failure to find taxi at Sengkang. We were late to catch 1st ferry to Bintan. So we decided to have lunch at Tampines Mall and from there then we went to Tanah Merah ferry terminal.

We stayed at Mayang Sari Bintan Resort. The cottage was a bit old but I think still ok.
The beach was not as clean as Club Med beach.

It's at Chinatown, Pagoda Street, near China town heritage center.

I chose the Blue Lotus because it was my first Tintin's comic I collected.

It has been a long time since Niko cooked dinner for me.
This time, he planned to cook beef steak for him self... T-T
I only took the $2.90 fish fillet from the cold storage's refridge.

Again, my fish fillet was half cooked. Inside was still translucent and a bit hard. So while eating, he had to go to the kitchen and re-cooked my fish fillet.

But I have to admit that his spaghetti was really good.

This is the best suckling pig I've ever eaten. This is a must try dish if you visit Bali.
We ate this2 times.
The first was when we went to Ubud Market then we passed by this restaurant.
The second was we purposely went to Ubud only for eating this, and the journey from Kuta to Ubud is around 1,5 hour.

I was not planning to change my lovely Nokia handphone, given by my ex-boyfriend :D
But he wanted to change his HP because he need to return his current HP to ex-company.
So, I followed him to use ANDROID.
He suggested me to take X10 mini. After we couldn't find the demo unit, we finally decided to take Samsung Galaxy Spica instead for $50 with 2 year contract, monthly $26.
I am happy with the phone. His HTC Desire of course is better, but I can not compare because I paid 6 times cheaper than his.

I kept eating 12-20 passion fruits a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) when I was in clubmed, Bintan. My colleague said Singapore one is much better.
Then when we came back from Bintan, the next day, he bought me a package of passion fruits.
It's yellow color inside. The taste was strong but it's not sweet.
I still prefer Indonesian passion fruit. It's good for your digestion and constipation.

I compare these 2 Aglio Olio. I think the mushroom one is much better. It's just that you have to pay $9.80 for the mushroom, and add $3 only for getting the seafood one.

We dropped by to our house and check the progress so far. The actually had done mostly of the hacking. The TV wall was no longer there, all the toilet tiles were not there. The connecting wall between master bedroom and common bedroom had hole already. The kitchen was done.

For hacking, it's very fast.

This day, we were on site on 10.30am to do some knocking.

First time we did was rolling the pineapple. And he moved the small altar in front of the door to one of the trees down stairs.

11.15 am sharp, Niko started knocking at the first point at the fiture wall. And about 10 minutes later, he moved to common bedroom and started to knock at the second point.

It's the first time and the last time for us having our food here.

Niko ordered miso soup tontoro ramen (sliced pork with miso soup ramen).
The ramen was not nice and it's too salty. I think ken ramen is much more better.

I ordered saba fish set. After I placed my order, they said they didn't have saba fish. Then I was about to choose the same as niko's one, then they said the saba fish's still available.

Niko had finished his ramen and my one still had not come yet.

After mine came, the fish was so fishy. And it's true that the miso soup was so salty.

Most of the food stall are not open during this long weekend of chinese new year.

This prata stall is still open on Saturday while others are close. So the queue for buying prata from this stall was very long this morning.

The curry gravy was not thick at all. The prata was ok. I think we don't have choices.

I read "traveling hungry boy", he bought garlic cookies. I was wondering how it tastes.
I decided to go to bugis where Home's favorite has their CNY expo.

I bought 1 can of Garlic cookies for $21.40. It is very nice and I like it so much. The garlic is so strong and crunchy.

Few days after that, Niko bought few more can to put at home and give to his friends.

Beef Brisket @Chopstick, Expo

The girls and I was going to Burberry sale at Expo, expecting something good and cheap.
But then, when we reached Expo, the queue was like somebody was giving free branded bag. It was very long, I roughly said it was about 200m away from hall 2 to hall 4.
the queue was not for getting something free, it was for spending money. I could not believe it.

Then we had our lunch at expo. We also couldn't find seats at food court. So we bumped to this restaurant, Chopstick.

The beef brisket noodle is nice, I ate before about a year ago. I ordered the same thing.

When my food came, It looked very nice. I wanted to take picture. I aimed my hand phone to the bowl. Then straight away the waiter said "can not take picture. There's a sign there."

They should be happy, what? I help them advertise their food. I just ignore this fella and took one.

Farewell Lunch at Lighthouse, Lavender

We had our farewell lunch at Lavender. We were about to move to Hougang. :D

For lunch, they have semi buffet lunch for reasonable price. You can eat salad, soup and the dessert as buffet and the main course will be ala carte.

The salad was nice.

Niko placed the same order as mine. I told the waiter that I wanted sirloin steak with medium well. Then he also ordered the same and asked me to change my order.

Our steak were served differently from what we had ordered. Niko's steak supposed to be medium rare. And my one supposed to be medium well. then Niko had his steak medium well and i had it well done.

I think we don't mind to be regular customer there.

For two person, we spent $35.00

Tintin in Congo

When we were going around at Heartland Mall at Kovan, I found this book.

Tintin in Congo has never been published in Indonesia. It has a red seal that this book is a collector edition to complete the whole series of tintin adventure. Actually It is.

With this book, I finally has completed my tintin series.

But after reading this, then I know why this book has never been published. I think this book is the first book that Herge had written. And the story line is not as interesting as other series. Everything that happened to Tintin was really coincidental. That makes the story become rubbish.

In order to complete the collection, publisher published this book as collector edition.

While Niko came back to singapore for few hours (transit), we had our dinner together at this restaurant.

We always pass by this place since we stay at Lavender, but we didn't have chance to eat there.

The food was nice with a reasonable price.

My rosemary chicken (half) served with mashed potato and vege is $14.00

Then Niko ordered the set menu for $25.00. He got potato cream soup, sirloin steak, assorted cut fruits and orange juice.

I'll go back again this weekend to have my lunch alone. :(

One thing I need to say...not so nice and it's damned expensive. The service was not so good also. Seeing the picture above, don't you thing old chang kee will be cheaper? I paid for $7.00 for 1 plate of pempek. I really don't want to recommend this place to my other friend. I think Ayam Penyet Ria is still better and worth of money.

They served my pempek after my husband had finished his food. After I reminded the staff then my pempek came. I don't know whether this occasion you call it dinner together. Because Niko enjoyed his food while I was waiting for my food. Then I was eating when he had done.

This is the best beef kebab. I really like to eat here, but the service is not so good.
We need to always ask for our remaining order. They keep forgetting our order.
But from the latest visit yesterday, they has improved compare to last time.

From far away, I saw there were still fer empty tables. We were walking toward these empty tables. I stoned for a while. Then I realized... while Niko almost sat on to those empty tables.

Now their neighbor had opened a Indian style cafe. The waiters are also wearing the same shirt. It just that the indian one without collar. Niko almost trapped and sat on to their table. There's no obvious border in between this two restaurant. Once you sit on to the Indian one, that's it man!

I remember the number of this menu, 1101, for oglio mushroom pasta. No meat at all in this pasta, but the taste is good. Even better than the one with meat.

Normally I go here to enjoy the pork porridge with century egg.

But this time, no body helped me order. Then I also never know the porridge comes from which stall.

So I just went around. Then found this beef noodle stall just beside the mince meat noodle stall. There wasn't any people buying from there. Then I also doubted.

But I just tried my luck then. I ordered 1 kwetiaw beef dry, with the beef ball for $4.00

It was niceeeeeee, the beef was so tender and the beef balls were also nice. :D
Next time, I will order from this stall.

Initially I wanted to order the mushroom spaghetti. Then this one was very tempting.

So I decided to try the new one. Chicken Chop Wasabi, It is their signature dish.

I think the chicken it self was too oily. The wasabi was not so strong also. But over all was acceptable.

The cheapest lighting shop is www.lighting.com.sg. Most probably I'll get my lighting from them. They charge for delivery $18.00

I'll consider this one for my living room light. Let say later our budget is not enough, then just get the normal one. T-T

Prata at Banquette, Balestier Road

It was very hot and tiring day, when my husband and I searched for our bathroom tiles.

Then we wanted to take a rest awhile and have some drinks.

We saw got this cheap prata $0.60/pieces, minimal order is 2.

Then he ordered 2 plain and 1 onion.

Normally at other stall the plain one is ready and cold already. But this one they made new one. So it's crispy. :D Nice. Cheap and nice. The curry was good also.

He also cooked this mushroom rice, because I'd been nagging quite sometimes. Actually I want the claypot mushroom rice. Our claypot has cracked. So this time he used rice cooker. There wasn't any burned effect on my mushroom rice. T-T

Then the 2 pieces chicken breast and the golden mushroom were nice.
